After an interval of more than nine months, the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa is excited to announce the completion of its newly upgraded lion and tiger enclosures. Our beautiful animals will once again be in their homes for you to visit! The creation of new facilities for the lions and tigers was undertaken for both the welfare of our animals and the safety of our staff. Approximately R3-million was invested in the project that has now reached fruition. Wheel barrow donation

Image
The National Zoo uses two sets of wheelbarrows on a daily basis. They use the one wheelbarrow specifically to pick up and remove elephant dung and the other three wheelbarrows are exclusively used to bring feed to the animals. The wheelbarrows are used quite a lot and in result regularly break, afterwhich they are just fixed up to work again. The wheelbarrows are now in such a state that a simple repair just won't do the trick.  The Friends of the National Zoo have sponsored five brand new wheelbarrows to the National Zoo, specifically to the elephant unit, to make the animal keepers workload lighter. Greame Ogilvie accepted the wheelbarrows on behalf of the National Zoo - Greame was very pleased on the donation.
